Family get together & Samford camp

We’ve returned from a nice weekend away in the motorhome, this time without the misadventures!

We set off early Sat arvo for a family get together at my Grandparents (my fathers side). We had a nice time, and the boys went swimming in the pool with some of their cousins. Of course the motorhome got a good look over. There are now 4 motorhomes on this side of the family, as well as at least one caravan, so there was talk of a group camp!

After this our plan was to head out Samford way and find a place to spend the night. It was starting to get dark though, so we worked out we’d follow my cousin Laura out to Aunty Wanda’s place and spend the night there. They have a nice big block out the back of Samford, with a beautiful dam. We set up for the night, and Laura joined us for Beef Stroganoff in the motorhome (our first motorhome guest!!), giving Daniel the opportunity to try out his new magic card tricks!

The fridge kept working overnight this time (thanks to the new battery!)! We enjoyed a paddle and swim in the dam in the morning, and I caught up with cousin Pierce. It is a beautiful place to live. The house is old Queenslander style, actually an ex hospital, that they moved there in large sections by truck, and then restored. With the dam in front and mountains behind it is very picturesque.

Late morning we headed off towards Mt Glorious. The trip up the range is similar to the trip up to the Bunya Mtns – steep and narrow. The country side was also similar, though greener. We did a 4.5km return walk to Greenes Falls, which were actually quite different/nice, though there were a lot of people there. The sign reckoned 2 hours to walk 4.5kms, though fortunately that was way off (I could have crawled it in that time!) as the tracks were well formed!

  1. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at ours. Was a shame I couldn’t spend a bit of time with you. You are welcome to stay any time you wish. Perhaps the boys (big and little) would like to have a bonfire.
